Meet Kooyonga’s dedicated team of staff

Kooyonga is proud to host a team of enthusiastic and driven staff members, each who specialise in their own area whilst also adopting a collaborative team work approach. Brett Lewis

General Manager

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2014

As the General Manager for Kooyonga Golf Club, Brett is responsible for the management of all aspects of the Club’s day to day operations and activities.  He works closely with the Committee to develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the Club and is focused on providing members and guests an outstanding golfing experience and industry-leading facilities and services.

Richard James

Course Superintendent

 Joined the Kooyonga team in 2017

As the Course Superintendent, Richard is responsible for the day to day management of the golf course, practice facilities, clubhouse gardens and surrounds along with project managing course improvements in line with approved course and landscape plans. Richard manages all course staffing requirements and is responsible for maintaining all plant and equipment, bore and irrigation systems and maintenance buildings and ensures all playing surfaces and facilities are presented to the high standard Kooyonga is renowned for.

Adam Fry

Assistant Course Superintendent

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2012

As the Assistant Course Superintendent, Adam works closely with the Course Superintendent to assist with the development and implementation of daily, weekly and monthly work schedules. Adam coordinates the related course maintenance activities to ensure the high standard that Kooyonga is renowned for is maintained. Adam routinely mentors and trains staff, and uses various media platforms to communicate with members to keep them updated on course maintenance practices and projects.

Josh fitzpatrick

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2022

Josh is responsible for the daily, weekly and monthly process required to deliver timely financial accounts and administrative reports to the management team and Committee. This includes management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventories and payroll. Josh also provides the General Manager assistance with the preparation of the Club operating and capital budgets, along with the statutory financial statements. 

Amanda Sewell

Marketing and Communications Manager

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2010

As the Marketing & Communications Manager for Kooyonga Golf Club, Amanda’s key role is to facilitate communication to members and prospective members through written, verbal and digital strategies, including management of newsletters, club website, club publications and all digital and social media platforms. Amanda is responsible for coordinating any advertising and marketing aspects of the club in conjunction with the General Manager and Committee, and works closely with key staff to implement and manage a consistent branding strategy.

Susie Mathews

Golf & MEMBERSHIP Manager

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2012

As the Golf & Membership Manager for Kooyonga Golf Club, Susie is responsible for the management of golf services including member competitions, guest play and women’s development as well as the management of membership services including membership administration, overseeing membership enquiries and welcoming new members. Susie is also a Certified PGA Professional and All Abilities Coach who provides tuition to golfers of all ability levels. She is focused on enhancing the experience of all members & guests.

Donna Smith

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2016

Donna’s key role is to manage the accounts payable/receivable aspects of the Club through posting information to accounting journals/software from sources such as invoices, cash receipts and supplier invoices. She also processes the Club’s employee payroll on a weekly basis, manages banking processes and provides assistance to the Finance Manager as required.

Sheree Firth

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2022

As the Membership & Administration Assistant, Sheree’s role is to offer administrative support across all departments of Kooyonga Golf Club. Being the first point of contact for Kooyonga, one of Chloe’s key responsibilities is to provide exceptional service to members and visitors. Chloe is also responsible for managing daily administrative tasks within the office and provides assistance to marketing, membership and accounts.

Peter Gordon

Assistant Clubhouse Operations Manager

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2008

In his function as Assistant Clubhouse Operations Manager, Peter is a key member in the hospitality team to manage both bar and function facilities, supervise staff and provide hospitality services that are befitting of a prestige private golf club. Peter’s role also entails meeting with members and clients to coordinate and organise memorable functions and events at Kooyonga Golf Club. With his passion for customer service and eye for detail Peter is always eager to find solutions to improve the appearance and services of the Club.

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2018

Natali had a successful career in finance and banking in Brazil before emigrating to Australia nine years ago. As soon as she arrived in Sydney, Natali began a new career in hospitality management. Natali joined Kooyonga in 2018 as the Club’s Function Coordinator. Following Anna Fontaine’s departure in 2021, she was promoted to Functions Manager, overseeing all events and functions. Natali brings strong organisational, management and coordination skills to her role, along with a great deal of enthusiasm, positivity, and charm. Natali is always happy to talk with any of our members about a function they might be planning, whether it be a special birthday, engagement, wedding or a business-related function or seminar.

Zac comes with 20 years experience in a variety of prestigious and nationally recognised restaurants, such as Mt Lofty House and Bridgewater Mill and has worked under notable chefs Le Tu Thai, Nick Holloway and Jin Choi.

Yanni provides support to the Head Chef in delivering ideas for menus and providing training and leadership to the team on a day to day basis.

Head professional

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2015

After a successful Amateur and Professional playing career, John joined Kooyonga Golf Club in July 2015. Having played around Australia and the world for nearly seven years, John brings with him a wealth of experience.John’s coaching philosophy relates to simplicity and clear instruction. Rather than making the game more difficult, he focuses on simplifying the game and providing golfers with clear practice regimes and goals to work towards. He has qualifications with the Titleist Performance Institute, Trackman Golf and is a full member of the Australian PGA where he holds an Advanced status in coaching.

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2019.

As Golf Operations Assistant, Josh provides support to the Golf Operations Manager and plays a key role in coordinating reciprocal and visitor golf at Kooyonga. As Golf Shop Manager, he works closely with the Golf Shop and Admin team to ensure that golf services are delivered to a high standard. Josh is a Pennant golfer with a keen interested in management and is always looking to improve the services provided to members, guests and visitors.

peter cooke

PGA Touring professional

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2021

Peter has spent the majority of his years playing professional golf in all pockets of the world playing on the Asian Tour, the China Tour and the Australian Tour for over a decade. He’s held numerous course records as an amateur and professional which some still stand today including -10 at the Vintage in the NSW PGA in 2010. A recent career highlight would be winning the 2019 Papua New Guinea Open (PGA Tour Australasia) not long after transitioning with coach Daniel Blackwell to the Kooyonga Golf Academy for his instruction. He has worked at major golf retail stores and golf clubs which has given him invaluable experience in customer service and product knowledge. Whilst currently completing his PGA bridging course to transition from tour pro to teaching pro, Peter’s goal is to use what he has learnt to bring an all-rounded package of energy and experience to work with an elite golf shop team and provide expert advice to the members.

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2017

Having worked as a casual employee at Kooyonga since 2017, Jordan has been provided with the opportunity to undertake a PGA Associateship. Jordan has completed a Bachelor of Medical Science and is currently studying a Masters by Research with a focus on fatigue during a round of golf. Once he has completed the Associateship, he intends to use his study to compliment his coaching.

Joined the Kooyonga team in 2019

Darcy became a member of Kooyonga following coaching he received from John Corbett when playing pennant for Tea Tree Gully Golf Club. Darcy plays Simpson Cup for Kooyonga and also plays state and national level golf events. Following a couple of years hiatus from studying after being accepted into teaching, Darcy has decided to combine his love of both teaching and golf and is now completing an Associate Program through the PGA of Australia. Once complete he hopes to focus on coaching whilst continuing to play in state and national golf events.
