As a member of Kooyonga Golf Club since 1997, Susie Mathews started working at Kooyonga in 2012 as the Junior Development Officer before amalgamating her position with the Golf Operations Officer role in 2013. In May 2015, Susie was appointed as Golf Operations Manager in light of Kooyonga Golf Club commencing management of the Golf Shop services from August 2015. Having graduated from The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies, Susie has also developed a strong background as a professional golfer. As a member of the ALPG (Australian Ladies Professional Golf), she has played on the ALPG, Japanese LPGA and Chinese LPGA Tours. She was also a member of the winning UCLA Women’s Golf Team (2004) earning First-Team All-America honours and the winning South Australian State Women’s Golf Team (2006). In 2001 she was a finalist for the Australian Women’s Amateur Golf Championship, going on to win the Australian Ladies Foursomes Championship and then in 2002 the Kalmar Ladies Open (Sweden).

After a successful Amateur and Professional playing career, John joined the Kooyonga Golf Club in July 2015. Having played around Australia and the world for nearly seven years, John brings with him a wealth of experience.John’s coaching philosophy relates to simplicity and clear instruction. Rather than making the game more difficult, he focuses on simplifying the game and providing golfers with clear practice regimes and goals to work towards. He has qualifications with the Titleist Performance Institute, Trackman Golf and is a full member of the Australian PGA where he holds an Advanced status in coaching.
|Duard Nel – Assistant Professional
Having completed a Degree in Sports Management, Duard went on to complete a Diploma with the Professional Golfers Association of South Africa in 2009 where he currently holds AA member status.Duard has extensive experience in the industry with skills ranging from management within golf clubs and operations through to program coordinating, swing coaching and team management/mentoring.As a Uni student Duard was a member of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) golf team, winning the National Championship in 2005 and 2006. As PGA Professional he served on the PGASA Committee (Kwazulu Natal/ Freestate region) 2011/12, was nominated PGA Professional of the year 2013 and 2014 and also had success on the course in PGA events. As a past Club Champion and pennant player, Duard has a big passion for Club life.
|Jordan Harkin – Assistant Professional
Jordan has a great passion for the game of golf and has played in winning Pennant teams for the Tea Tree Gully Golf Club. In 2012 he successfully completed his PGA of Australia traineeship and during the training he developed a keen interest in coaching and golf club technology. Jordan has focused strongly on junior golf since 2010 which led to him being awarded the Australian Active After-Schools Community Coaches Award (2011). In 2015 he became the Club Professional at the Tea Tree Gully Golf Club and ran the operations for three years before commencing as the Assistant Professional at Kooyonga (2017). Jordan has a wealth of experience in club fitting and in 2016 won a national competition with golf club manufacturer PING where he was given the opportunity to tour the PING factory in the US. The trip included visiting the PING club fitting centre along with the PING research and development offices. Jordan’s enthusiasm for club fitting and coaching is evident when communicating with him.
|Deb Hocking – Golf Operations & Retail Assistant
Deb has an extensive background in sports and recreation management. She is passionate about sport and fitness and has a long history of playing high level hockey and in recent years has enjoyed participating in long distance running and triathlons. With a keen interest in golf, Deb is enjoying working in the golf industry at Kooyonga.
|Heath Riches – Golf Shop Assistant
Heath has been a part of several State representative teams, including his role as the 2015 Men’s Team Captain. He has been a member of Kooyonga Golf Club for ten years during which time he has won multiple club championships. He has also been a successful member and Captain of the Simpson Cup team.
|William Toleman – Golf Shop Assistant
William is currently undertaking a Bachelor in Business. He has been a member of the Club for eleven years in which time he has played junior pennant and won the handicap foursomes championship.
|Craig Weckert – Golf Shop Assistant
Craig has been a member of Kooyonga Golf Club for 17 years and is a former Captain of the Junior Pennant team and Simpson Cup player. He is also the inaugural winner of the Murray Crafter Cup, winning the Fleurieu Peninsula Golf Championship in 2014.
