which squad is for your child?

The Kooyonga coaching team is excited to announce the introduction of Operation 36. This will be the framework for our junior golf program and consists of coaching, playing and training. Each golfer will be issued a profile in the Operation 36 Mobile App to track progress through a six level curriculum that is designed to set appropriate objectives and challenge each student towards shooting par (score of 36) or better for 9 holes.

K1 SQUAD

FUNDAMENTALS (6-8 years)

This is an early introduction into the game and first step into developing the necessary fundamentals required to build a strong foundation for the game.  Using the Operation 36, this squad will develop a good grip and setup and early swing concepts to get them hooked.  This is the first stage of our long term development plan so juniors will also develop their agility, balance and coordination drills to have strong fundamental movement skills by using Titleist Performance Institute object control based tasks.

LEARNING TO TRAIN (9-11 years)

These academy classes will reinforce the fundamentals learnt in the K1 sessions. Here juniors will begin to grow their golf skills by been introduced to new shot types around the green and developing their full swing ball flight skills by using human based exercise such as balance, tempo and tension awareness exercises.  The Operation 36 protocol will reinforce golf etiquette and rules to prepare juniors for on course play. An important time in the juniors physical development so additional functional strength drills are introduced for improved stability and mobility awareness and TPI sport skill games.

Playing on course competitions following the class will allow the juniors to attempt to transfer their new skills to the golf course.  This class will introduce Vision54s human skill program of Think Box, Play Box & Memory Box activities to develop a consistent shot-routine for higher success on the course.
